He worked in a representational style and used light colors in simple compositions to create airy and refreshing pieces. He studied under the famous artist Nicolas de Staël.Roger Muhl is best known for his landscape paintings of the South of France. In the tradition of Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cézanne, Muhl found inspiration for his work in the iconic, atmospheric light of southern France. Part of the School of Paris that was championed by Findlay Galleries. He was a contemporary of Claude venard, Marcel Mouly, Jean Dufy, Bernard Cathelin, Andre Brasilier, Gabriel Godard, Rene Genis, Guy Bardone. Roger Mühl was a 20th-century French painter best known for his light-drenched landscape renderings of the South of France. Mühl’s paintings often feature built-up impasto surfaces and utilize complimentary colors and neutral tones, creating both atmosphere and physicality in his subtle compositions. Born on December 20, 1929 in Strasbourg, France, he went on to attend the National School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg. He spent most of his life living and working in Provence. The artist made his first exhibition in Paris in 1960, then exhibited in Geneva, London, Milan, Dallas, Cologne, Stuttgart, Tokyo, Kyoto, Belfort and New York.
