Details Details Close Description A 1965 oil on board painting by the American artist Beni E. Kosh (alias Charles Elmer Harris, 1917-1993). Titled Prophete et Tourbillon (Prophet and Whirlwind) to the lower right, this abstract work depicts an figure with elongated legs and arms walking near a colorful whirlwind surrounded by biomorphic shapes. Signed and dated to the lower right, the painting is mounted and framed in a black wooden frame. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1917, Charles Elmer Harris later changed his name to Beni E. Kosh, meaning “Son of Ethiopia”. Kosh studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and later worked with the “Sho Nuff Art Group”.
