Details Details Close Description This late 1940’s signed portrait is one of our studio favorites! Edouard Righetti was a Swiss born Mid-Century artist (b.1924) known primarily for his work in painting and printmaking. Though he was born Swiss, he moved away early in life and spent most of his life living and creating in France. He was known for his stylistic depictions of peasants, animals, landscapes and the sadness of suburbia. Righetti participated in numerous Salons and exhibitions internationally during his career and is widely collected. Righetti often signed his art “Ed” as you will note on this work. This expressionistic and exquisite portrait in charcoal/conte is a wonderful example of the characters in everyday Parisian life in the 1940’s. The bottom of the work is signed “Paris 1948, Ed Righetti) This piece comes ready-to- frame with a custom 3” acid-free archival mat and acid-free foamcore backing. less DIMENSIONS 13.75ʺW × 0.38ʺD × 18ʺH STYLES FrenchMid-Century Modern FRAME TYPE Unframed ART SUBJECTS FigurePortrait PERIOD 1940s COUNTRY OF ORIGIN France ITEM TYPE Vintage, Antique or Pre-owned MATERIALS CharcoalConté CONDITION Good Condition, Original Condition Unaltered, Some Imperfections COLOR Black TEAR SHEET CONDITION NOTES Some signs of aging and fading as is normal for a piece of this time frame – but overall in … more See less
