Details Details Close Description An American Art Deco male and female porcelain bust pair from Lenox Ceramic Art Company of Trenton, New Jersey, dating circa 1930s. The striking, stylized portrait busts in glazed off-white porcelain were designed as sculptural objects in the round with delicate features and elongated necks supported on round pedestal bases. The pair were created under the direction of the company’s chief designer Frank Graham Holmes and were almost certainly based on a design by Hungarian-American sculptor Geza De Vegh. De Vegh designed a small range of similar sculptural figures for the Lenox and the Scammell China Companies. The pair would display particularly well on a piano, console table, bookshelf, or mantelpiece. Both pieces are in very good condition, measuring 9.25 inches height. Each bears a green printed factory mark consisting of an “L” enclosed in a wreath over “Lenox” / “Made in U.S.A.” The Lenox company was founded in New Jersey in 1889. Frank Graham Holmes was the company’s chief designer from 1905-1954. less DIMENSIONS 4.5ʺW × 4.5ʺD × 9.25ʺH STYLES AmericanArt Deco ART SUBJECTS Figure PERIOD 1930s COUNTRY OF ORIGIN United States ITEM TYPE Vintage, Antique or Pre-owned MATERIALS Porcelain CONDITION Good Condition, Original Condition Unaltered, Some Imperfections COLOR Ivory TEAR SHEET CONDITION NOTES Very good condition See less
