Details Details Close Description VILLAGE WALK Size: 49.5 x 79.5 cm (including frame) Oil on canvas A striking mid century street scene, painted in oil onto canvas. Executed in an expressionist style, the artist has used broad and expressive brushstrokes in an array of earthy colours to create this composition. Subtle tonal variations and a skilful use of complementary colours create a sense of depth as well as light and shadow. A group of figures can be seen in the foreground, and behind them sit several light coloured houses. At the top of the composition we see the rolling hills in deeper darker colours. The painting is housed in a wood frame with an outer dark border which complements the painting beautifully.
