Details Details Close Description Caribbean Still Life, “Blue Leaf” A wilted leaf fell from a tree. A piece of linoleum flooring somehow ended up on the bottom of the ocean. They both became detritus and here ended up in an uneasy union to remind us about our responsibilities as stewards of our planet. Assemblage on 7.5″ x 9.5″ watercolor paper, mounted with mat in 15″ x 17.5″ x 2.25″ shadow box. Artist’s statement: In 1997 I visited the Caribbean island Domenica. This mountainous island is known for its rainforests and is often referred to as “The Nature Island of the Caribbean”. During my stay I became fascinated with the detritus I found in the forest, on the beaches and even on the bottom of the ocean.
