Painted in monochromatic tones to emerge from the heavy-weight, raw linen background, this mixed media piece has a tactile, textile quality. Stretched over birch panel, and “painted” with ink, bleach and acrylic paint. Comes unframed and signed, with a Certificate of Authenticity. Part of Hatheway’s Broadway, Los Angeles series, “The Arcade Theatre” was painted in tribute to one of the world’s greatest architectural collections: the movie palaces and fanciful buildings of downtown Los Angeles, pre-Hollywood. Bio: Teale Hatheway is a Los Angeles based artist known for her paintings and installations of architecture, street lights and ornamental details. Her work contemplates ideas of memory, experience and the soulful residue left behind as people inhabit, use and pass-through physical spaces. Hatheway’s abstract architectural paintings have exhibited extensively in galleries, museums and alternative spaces, including George Billis, Castelli Art Space, bG Gallery, Red Pipe, Architecture+Design Museum, MOAH Lancaster, The Oceanside Museum of Art, the Riverside Art Museum, and internationally at Palazzo della Provincia di Frosinone (Italy). Hatheway has created several large-scale, site-specific installations for venues including Pomona College, The Rendon Gallery, Gallery 825/LAAA and The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
