Details Details Close Description This is an original RH Whitmore purchased from the estate. Beautiful portrait of a woman. No frame, on paper. Slight discoloration at top & dog ear. Stamped with official stamp on reverse. From Ask Art: “Born in Dayton, Ohio, Robert Whitmore studied at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1913 to 1917. Subsequently, he served in World War I for a year, then continued his studies at the Cincinnati Art Academy. He is particularly known for his Ohioan landscapes painted en plein air, exhibiting loose impressionistic brushstrokes and brilliant vibrant colors. To accommodate working outdoors, he turned a Model T truck into his personal mobile studio. Whitmore was an art professor at Antioch College until his retirement in 1955, and his work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Dayton Art Institute, the National Academy of Design, and various galleries in Ohio. “ less DIMENSIONS 9ʺW × 0.1ʺD × 12ʺH STYLES PortraitureRealism ART SUBJECTS Portrait FRAME TYPE Unframed PERIOD 1940s COUNTRY OF ORIGIN United States ITEM TYPE Vintage, Antique or Pre-owned MATERIALS Paper CONDITION Good Condition, Original Condition Unaltered, Some Imperfections COLOR Burgundy TEAR SHEET CONDITION NOTES Some shadowing or loss of color at the top, slight dog ears on top corner See less
